ABOUT ME
There are times when I don't know whether to laugh or cry
- I choose to laugh!
Humour is important. It is a coping mechanism which can stop you getting angry at minor inconveniences and can be used to make points that cannot be used any other way. It can defuse tense situations and when you can laugh at yourself it is a sign of maturity. Laughing at yourself shows acceptance that not only is the world frustrating but you are responsible for a fair share.

President Reagan was famous for many things but the passage of time many of his political decisions are forgotten(1). Part of what endures is his gentle sense of humour. A classic Reaganism was during an election debate where his age was questioned. His reply - "I will not make the youth and inexperience of my opponent (Walter Mondale) an issue in this election". He defused the issue and made the point that he was both mature and experienced.

Needless to say my sense of humour comes out of my experience and views to some extent. Knowing that I live in the UK and taught for three decades in Secondary Education gives some of the context to my humour. Married with two children, family life is part of the mix too.

economic problems sooner rather than later - leading to the break up of the USSR)
